Now Hiring: Accounting Technician/Customer Service Representative (I/II/III) Bighorn-Desert View Water Agency

Salary
Range: $25.47–$45.29/hour (level based on experience)

Do you like to work on a variety of tasks with a focus on customer service? Bighorn-Desert View Water Agency is looking for a dependable, customer-focused generalist to join our small, close-knit team.

You’ll be helping customers — handling utility billing, payments, and account inquiries — while supporting day-to-day accounting and administrative functions of the office. The ideal candidate has customer service experience in a utility, public agency, or billing environment, basic bookkeeping knowledge, and strong computer skills using programs including Microsoft Office. Experience with Springbrook is a plus. A valid California Class C Driver’s License is required.

Now Hiring: Water Distribution Operator I / II / III Bighorn-Desert View Water Agency

Salary Range: $26.36 – $46.89 per hour DOQ

The Bighorn-Desert View Water Agency is seeking a motivated and dependable Water Distribution Operator to join our small but dedicated team serving the Morongo Basin community.

About the Position

Operators perform a wide variety of field and operational duties related to maintaining and improving the Agency’s water distribution system. Work may include:

  • Installing, repairing, and maintaining water mains, valves, hydrants, meters, and service lines
  • Reading meters and responding to customer service requests
  • Operating pumps, wells, reservoirs, and related water system facilities
  • Collecting water quality samples and assisting with regulatory compliance
  • Responding to leaks, emergencies, and after-hours service calls
  • Operating equipment, tools, and vehicles safely and effectively
  • Assisting with system maintenance, construction, and troubleshooting projects
  • Working collaboratively with office staff, operators, contractors, and customers

This position requires participation in an on-call rotation and occasional overtime, including nights, weekends, and emergency response situations.

Minimum Qualifications

Water Distribution Operator I

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to obtain a California Distribution Operator Grade D1 certification within 18 months of hire
  • Ability to obtain a Class A California driver’s license within 18 months of hire
  • Strong work ethic, willingness to learn, and work well with others

Water Distribution Operator II

  • California D2 and T1 certifications
  • Two to three years of related experience

Water Distribution Operator III

  • California D3 and T2 certifications
  • Three to five years of related experience
  • Ability to perform advanced operational and maintenance duties independently
  • May assist with coordinating field activities and mentoring staff

Additional Requirements

  • Valid California driver’s license with acceptable driving record
  • First Aid/CPR certification (or ability to obtain)
  • Ability to perform physically demanding outdoor work in desert conditions
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to work safely and effectively as part of a team

This is a safety-sensitive, DOT-regulated position subject to the Agency’s Drug and Alcohol Testing Program. Verification of licenses, certifications, and driving history will be required during the selection process.
